Counting the pool
The next pages count who is in the pool and where the count is small.
Czech players in Europe's 9 top-ranked leagues per million inhabitants, 2025/26
Czechia ranks 7th of 9 countries at 2.39 per million; Denmark leads at 12.58.
How to read it: one bar per country, sorted by players per million; the green bar is Czechia. The counts are administrative (every player who appeared, no sample), so the bars carry no interval; what moves them is the definition, given below.
How we know
As an analytics question In numbers: distinct players who appeared (any minutes) on 2025/26 rosters of the 9 top-ranked leagues, per million inhabitants, Czechia and 8 peers.
What we did We counted every player with the home nation's nationality who appeared in one of Europe's top-ranked leagues that season, then divided the count by the country's population.
Sources Distinct players with at least one minute on 2025/26 rosters of the 9 UEFA top-ranked leagues ÷ population on 1 January 2024 (Eurostat, table demo_pjan, accessed 14 September 2026); every country counted the same way.
What this means
The count is 26 players for 10.9 million people, an administrative count of who appeared, with no sampling interval. With a floor of 450 minutes Czechia has 23 players (2.11 per million, rank 7 of 9); with 900 minutes 16 (1.47, rank 7). The rank describes presence in nine leagues chosen by UEFA coefficient; it does not measure the quality of the players or of the home league.
What this does not show
Players in leagues outside the nine, however strong their clubs; how many minutes the counted players play beyond the two floors above; and why a country ranks where it does.
